Tax Benefit Deadline Is May 15
Tax reduction program applications for tax payers who meet certain criteria must be filed by May 15th to qualify for this year. Residents 65 years or older who have lived in Redding 3 years or more and have Redding as Their Domicile Residence may apply to the Redding Assessor's office from February 1, 2019 through May 15, 2019 for a reduction on their property tax. Please bring a photo ID. Applications are also available on the Redding website at : under the forms link. For the state program, those 65 years of age or over who have become property owners in the Town of Redding by October 1, 2018, and have a spouse domiciled with resident, occupy real property as home, have an adjusted gross income, including Social Security not more than $43,900 for married or $36,000 for single tax filers. They must also be a resident of the State for six months and a day.

A penalty is provided for anyone making a false affidavit or neglecting to notify the Assessor of exceeded income.
